This is a 1 day course made for both operatives and supervisors
What you will learn
- Understanding when there is a need for hand excavation, and the digging of trial holes.
- Risk assessment detailing the importance of accurate location of underground services.
- How to use cable detection equipment in all modes, and fully understand its limitations.
- What apparatus is buried under the ground, understanding of plans and maps, including recognition and purpose of street furniture.
How is this training delivered?
- The theoretical aspects of the course are delivered in the classroom, with practical’s focussing on the use of the cable detection equipment, with the use of drawings, plans and maps. Learners are given ample opportunity to practice using the equipment, and to ask questions, prior to assessment.
- Assessment focuses on learners carrying out a practical survey, to a set criteria, using equipment provided, and undertaking a multi choice question paper.
What do I need to bring with me?
- Learners should bring their own safety footwear, eye protection, high visibility vest/clothing, hard hat and working gloves for the practical exercises.
